I have now officially worked with Project Peace for over a month. This first part of my journey is just a little over a third of my entire internship, and I cannot imagine what the rest has in store for me. I have been working to build up social media accounts, writing articles for the blog, and painting posters and life-sized cut-outs for the Seneca County Fair and Peace Camp. However, I have done more here than just devote time and talents to Project Peace; I have learned to truly appreciate what it means to be a peacemaker. I have always considered myself a peaceful person and have tried to spread peace and justice around the world wherever I go, but working here this past month has shown me that it truly is possible to implement all these dreamy ideas I have about peace on earth. It may have to come to fruition on a smaller level and much more slowly than I would prefer, but it is happening. If you too consider yourself a peacemaker, and you too find yourself disheartened and discouraged by the lack of visible progress, try to truly immerse yourself in the abundant possibilities of peace-implementation as I have here in the past month, and your hope will return. Hopeful Relationships Forming
Since Scott will be a senior at Tiffin University, Project Peace is hopeful in forming a relationship through collaborative projects like a Peace Fair. Scott is trying to involve our two entities in ways we’ve only dreamed of before.
Having also visited Mayor Montz recently, sr. Paulette asked about moving Tiffin slowly but surely toward a Peacemaking, Nonviolent Town. The mayor urged Paulette to gather some people together to strategize toward such a goal. Institutions and agencies would thus work together to bring harmonious relationships among all important town entities. Carbondale, Illinois is such a town working now for 5 years to have such an ideal become real.

Seneca County Fair
“Steps to Peace” will be the theme of this year’s Project Peace and Pax Christi booths in the Old Merchants’ Building on the Seneca County fairgrounds July 25-31.
There will be activities, tattoos, prizes, information, chances to put your footprint onto the world —indicating that you want to help make a difference in bauilding a culture of peace in our world.

A truly global movement against Israeli Apartheid is rapidly emerging in response to this call. We call this response: BDS (Boycott, Sanctions, Divestment.)

A Cherokee elder was teaching his grandchildren about life. He said to them, “A fight is going on inside me… it is a terrible fight between two wolves. One wolf represents fear, anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, hatefulness, and lies. The other stands for joy, peace, love, hope, humbleness, kindness, friendship, generosity, faith, and truth. This same fight is going on inside of you, and inside every other person, too.” The children thought about it for a minute. Then one child asked his grandfather, “Which wolf will win?” The Cherokee elder replied…”The one you feed.”
